With humble beginnings as an 11 year old exchange student from Mexico City, Mexico, Fernando began learning about cooking in his travels to the U.S. His first journey took him to San Francisco, California, where he started as a dishwasher & busboy. His love and passion for the culinary craft truly began in Colorado, which was his next stop. Moving next to Houston, Texas, Fernando continued to learn & sharpen his skills. Now with over 20 years of restaurant experience, he has been with Del Frisco’s in Las Vegas for almost a decade. Fernando is continually looked upon in our company as a leader, he has become an integral part of numerous restaurant openings across the country as DFRG grows. He really enjoys creating new and innovative recipes, his favorite being creative with sauces, toppings and specialty butters. All of his original concepts shine within our Del Frisco’s culinary team and the recipes are used throughout all of our restaurants. More importantly, Chef Fernando takes great pride and enjoyment in mentoring and developing new, young chefs and culinary students in the trade. He loves helping them hone their skills to grow in their culinary careers. Lastly, Fernando is a family man. He has a loving & supportive wife, Rosie and two sons, Fernando Jr. and Brando. Chef loves to grill at home and younger son, Brando is now taken interest in cooking. Fernando plans to teach him not only his amazing culinary skills but his passion and love for cuisine & its’ preparation.
