Sommelier Selections: Raise a Glass to Mom

This Mother’s Day, raise a glass to the extraordinary woman in your life with something special. Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House – New York Sommeliers (and mothers themselves) Kristin Beckler and Crystl Friedman offer two unique wine selections that will delight Mom.

A Tribute to Grace “Santa Barbara Highlands Vineyard” 2015
Santa Barbara County, California | Rosé of Grenache | $55

New Zealand-born, female Winemaker Angela Osborne named this light, fresh and delicious Rosé after one of her loves, her grandmother Grace. This beauty has the complexity to compliment the most lavish meal or its dry raspberry and strawberry notes can be enjoyed while Mom is being pampered on a warm spring Sunday.

Antica Terra “Botanica” 2013
Willamette Valley, Oregon | Pinot Noir | $155

Female Winemaker and Food & Wine Magazine’s 2012 Winemaker of the Year Maggie Harrison delivers excellence with the Botanica, a Burgundian beauty from the Willamette Valley. Harrison’s take on Oregon Pinot noir is complete with a touch of minerality, stewed fruit and gorgeous acidity. Botanica is a light Pinot Noir bursting with stewed raspberry and notes of vanilla and nutmeg. Mom may not want to indulge in anything too heavy early in the day, and this dainty selection allows for all the complexity without any of the weight.

Regardless of what bottle you select this Sunday, a toast is in order for Mom.
